i am looking for sims that are engineers, biologists, and computer programmers that would be interested in working in aerospace. you can get creative, but try to stay within those niches!
please write a small biography about your sim! it will help me select who i think will be best for the job. you don't have go super in depth, but their bio will help me select the final sims :)
you don't need to set your sim up with degrees or skills or anything if you don't want to! i can do all of that in game myself.

⭐ selection process
the deadline for submissions is june 15th, 2025. sorry for the short window - i'm really excited to play asap lol. i'll be selecting the sims and posting about them sometime before june 21st, 2025!
i will be selecting 7 sims to be christopher's coworkers for the duration of the generation. using the club feature, these sims will act as his coworkers, and will ultimately become his and percy's primary social circle.
i am ideally looking for at least two sims from each category (engineering, biology, computer science). i want to create a well balanced team for this project, but if i don't get enough submissions for each category, i'll just cope :P
the sims will be chosen based on... vibes? i might rng if i'm stuck between who to pick. ultimately though i want to pick whoever fits best with christopher and the vibe i have for the team.
don't worry though! all sims submitted will be added to my save and live in oasis springs for the whole generation! because i use kuttoe's home regions mod, they will be the only sims populating the town, and so they'll be the sims interacting with my sims most often. they will also essentially be re-populating my save since i recently culled a bunch of random townies lol
i will absolutely be posting updates if anything interesting happens with submitted sims :) and who knows, maybe a future dean will marry a descendent or something!
🧬 sim creation info
i have all packs, so there's no pack restrictions on what you can use to dress up your sims!
your sims should have one outfit per category. don't worry about their main outfit being work appropriate - i'll be giving each sim an additional work outfit. if i need to add or change anything, i'll make sure to keep their aesthetic consistent!
cc is okay, but keep it to a moderate amount. mm preferred, hair + clothes are okay, but don't go buckwild on accessories or anything like that (unless it's important for their backstory or identity, like necessary scars, medical equipment, identifying features, etc)
if i choose not to use any of the cc given with the sim, i will change the item to something consistent in style that i already have in my game. (for example, a green t-shirt will be swapped out for a different green t-shirt)
please don't use custom body presets! custom face presets and sliders are okay, but just know that they might get messed up if i ever need to make tweaks.
feel free to use skin details and makeup, but the sims will have my defaults, and i might change up some skin details and makeup to fit in with my game better. i'll still retain their general look though! i might just go with stuff i have in my game instead of new stuff that i wouldn't normally use.
you can either link the cc they use in the post, or include them in the dl with their tray files. i don't mind either way.

Still playing Skyrim. And I’m interested to report that the game is actually better than I remember, on balance. But I’m kind of fascinated by what’s going on with Lydia, mechanically and narratively.
Lydia is the first follower who gets shoved in your face just by virtue of following the main quest. There are others you can pick up earlier, but not without finishing errands (for Faendal and Sven), by forking up a pretty big chunk of change for the early game by hiring Janessa, or by going out of your way in some other manner. If you’re completely new to the game and you’re just powering through the main story as it’s presented, she’s the first option for a follower that the game highlights for you in giant blinking neon lights. And as a quest reward, she’s mechanically kind of a godsend at that point in the story; a doubling of carry capacity, an excellent meat shield and distraction, a way to extract utility from weapons and armor you don’t want to use yourself. More subjectively she provides the impression of a stalwart ally or companion in what can be a very lonely worldspace to exist in. There’s very little reason not to take her with you, and once you have her, the majority of companions being equal, there’s very little reason to get rid of her until she stops level scaling.
Despite the mechanical utility Lydia provides at a crucial point, and the resultant likelyhood that you’ll haul her along for the ride, she’s only a couple steps up from the companion cube. She has no specific, non-fungible impact on the narrative beyond demonstrating Jarl Balgruuf’s favor. Her deferral to you is automatic; if someone is actively paying her a salary to help you defile graves, cut deals with every deity on the continent and invade the afterlife, it sure as hell isn’t you. It isn’t clear what her gig under Balgruuf was before she was assigned to you. She has no personal narrative. She has no personal side quest. One of her biggest inklings of personality is when she expresses vague dissatisfaction with being treated as a pack mule, but then she does it anyway.  She’s party to world-shaking events and political upheavals, but she’s present purely in her capacity as your appendix, so reality simply treats her as your plus-one. 
She’ll block doors you’re trying to get through, and she’ll get mad at you if you push her out of the way. She’ll charge into battle or set off traps while you’re trying to sneak. She’ll microaggress you with stock Nord dialogue while pulverizing your enemies, a plurality of whom are also Nords. She’ll distract bosses long enough to buy you breathing room for a healing spell or a potion. You’ll kill her by accident with an ill-timed area-of-effect spell, roll your eyes, and, ultimately, probably reload your save. Because she might only be a couple steps up from a companion cube, but the whole gag with the companion cube is how ridiculously low the threshold is for the audience to get genuinely attached to something in a video game. A thin character invites apophenia. Behaviors that are purely downstream of dev thoughtlessness will still imply character traits if taken at Watsonian Face Value. In this case, inexplicable undying loyalty, reserved comments on impressive landmarks, and comical stoicism in the face of some of the weirdest events it’s conceptually possible to encounter.  So here’s to weird, underbaked companions in Bethesda Games, and everything we can project onto the void they provide. And Here’s to that related genus of character- units in squad-based tactics or management-sim games with permadeath mechanics who last long enough and accumulate enough equipment, skill points, etc. that they become your Special Little Guy despite otherwise lacking any deliberate character traits.

Currently ruminating after my third listen of The Magnus Archives, and I needed to put my thoughts into words. Because after 3 listens and 4 years after first discovering the series, I still don't know how to feel about Melanie King.
On my first listen, I thought my opinions on the characters were pretty set: John is sympathetic. Tim is annoying but ultimately tragic. Martin is sweet and misunderstood. Etc.
I absolutely DESPISED Melanie on my first listen. Her seeming lack of self awareness with her anger issues. her constant deflecting and accusing, and even her last conversation with Martin where she's snide, all got under my skin and made me hate this character.
Part of all that was because I was still pretty new to horror as a genre (I am admittedly a pretty big scaredy cat), and further, my unfamiliarity with the more narrow genre of cosmic horror. I had someone put it to me this way: "It's horror. Everyone and everything sucks. That's the point."
On my second listen of the series, I was surprised by how much changed. John was no longer sympathetic to me, but a mechanism in his own self destruction, who essentially used the "but I'm just a little guy with glasses uwu, and it's my birthday, I'm the birthday boy" defense every time he was called out. Tim was no longer annoying, but an example of someone shutting down, mentally and emotionally, in the face of discovering what (to a very small extent) was going on. Which now, is totally fair. Crumpling like a paper doll under the weight of pure horror is actually an understandable response (who knew). And Martin... is still sweet... but is also a people-pleasing asshole.
But Melanie was... different. I definitely softened on her character. Entering a period of my life where I was FINALLY starting to acknowledge my own history of anger issues and mental disorders probably helped, and I will admit there was projection from my part.
But now, after my third listen, it seems like there's this weird aspect of the series, especially season 5, where every character needs to address their own toxicity in order to admit they've done wrong. Everyone, except Melanie.
John tells Martin about Gertrude's shortcomings, and how being a cold stone bad-ass didn't make her a good person, and that she was willing to throw away innocent people for the "greater good". Martin LITERALLY self reflects, and his other self calls him out on how much of John's behavior he's willing to excuse. Hell, even Helen goads John into revealing that he's no better than her in the hotel. In the end, he was just as "hungry" as every other monster. He even admits this to Martin.
But the most we get from Melanie is "I've actually done a lot of work on my anger." Which, would be great, except...
Melanie King gave Johnathan Sims the mark of The Slaughter, and she is partially responsible for the apocalypse that is created.
I am not the first, nor will I be the last, to draw the comparison that the unknowable forces and systems that make up the horrors of TMA, are meant to represent capitalism. I personally would make the distinction that the analogy is better made as a comparison to the abuse of power in general, but to a lot of people, those are the same thing. And one argument I have seen in Melanie's defense, is that by willingly blinding herself, she is removing herself from the fucked up game that is being played, and is a better person for it. That by choosing not to participate in "capitalism", she is one of the few people that grows. But... does she? Is that how that works? If we remove analogy from the story at all, would we say that a billionaire who wakes up one day and decides to redistribute all their money and help people is absolved of all the pain they have caused in the past?
I think part of the reason why, even after softening on Melanie because of my own experiences with anger and lack of personal security, the conversation between Melanie and Martin STILL makes me angry, even after 3 listens.
The end of season 4 is basically a confirmation of it, but I would argue John confronting Jude Perry is a secondary confirmation, that John had to be "marked" by each of the powers in order for Jonas' plan to work. He even outright states it "Did you know this would happen when you burned my hand?" Jane Prentiss marked John with The Corruption. Jared Hopworth marked John with The Flesh. But Melanie's involvement in the state of the world, is never brought up. And it's not just the state of the world in season 5 either. I find it very interesting that Melanie's therapist is specifically being tormented by The Spiral. And yeah, you could make the argument that it's BECAUSE she's a therapist, like the series does, but I also think it's interesting that when The Spiral tries to claim her (Melanie's therapist) again, it's done so through Helen, who Melanie literally and figuratively opened the door for. Melanie's actions have consequences, and they DO affect other people, but the most we ever get from her is "I've been working on my anger", which feels... unfinished. And unsatisfying, given her character as a whole is essentially an exploration of anger issues. I don't really buy the logic of the framing of the series (we as the audience only hear what's relevant to The Web), or that just because it's horror, some people are shitty and some answers are unsatisfying. Because I no longer believe Melanie is shitty. I believe she's a complicated character who goes through so much shit in order to feel safe and self-actualized.
But that doesn't excuse her past actions. And it's weird that those actions are never challenged, when other characters who have histories of being abusive, like Daisy and Basira, VERY MUCH ARE.
So... I don't know if this rant really had a point, other than just me trying to motivate myself to write down my thoughts instead of festering in my own head. I don't know if there's a point to be had at all. All I know is I've listened to the Magnus Archives, all 200 episodes, three times,
and I still don't know how I feel about Melanie King.

3t2 Traits and Enhancing Your Game
First of all,I want to say that I take zero credit for this amazing project,that honor belongs to hexagonal-bipyramid.

Second of all,I want to thank hexagonal-bipyramid and everyone else wokring on this amazing project,it really helps with bringing more personality,Not to mention that it helps a lot! For example:
-Sims with the "Family Oriented" and "Nurturing" trait do the "Encourage" interaction with 50% more effectivness.
-Sims with the "Animal Lovers" trait train pets 15% faster.
-Sims with the "Cat People" and "Dog People" train pets 25% faster
-Sims with the "Charismatic" trait will train pets as if they have 2 more charisma points then they actually do.
-Sims with the "Genius" trait will learn skills 50% faster.
-Sims with the "Heavy Sleeper" and "Light Sleeper" trait can sleep no matter how full their energy.
This is all perfect for me right now because I have a big family that runs an animal shelter,and those toddlers need to learn their skills and pets need to learn their tricks as fast as possible before I lose my mind. I gave everyone the "Heavy Sleeper" trait and make them sleep when necessary so they can have enough energy for their work AND social lives,along with giving everyone the "Genius" and "Animal Lover" trait so that skills go fast.
With that said, I made this post simply for those who are feeling overwhelmed by this amazing project and don't know what to do,but want to use it and are just too scared.

Sims learn skills faster or slower depending on their traits. Sim with the "Genius" trait learn all skills 50% faster,sims with the "Natural Cook" trait will learn cooking 33% faster, sims sims with the "Handy" trait will learn mechanical skill 33% faster,sims with the "Athletic" trait will learn body skill 33% faster,ect.
10)"Study all skills from books" by MidgeTheTree,it was needed for the " Skill Mods for Traits and Uni Support" mod.It makes sims be able to learn all skills from all bookcases instead of just the bookcase that's the reward for the Education career.
Now,I didn't include some of the traits. I'll write which ones I didn't include and why.
1)I didn't include "Couch Potato","Neat","Shy" and "Slob" because they are already in the personality system that's in the game.
And since I'm using this amazing mod as an extension of the personality of the sims instead of a replacament,I simply removed them.
2) I didn't include "Proper" "Never Nude" and "Equestrian" because I honestly never liked "Never Nude" and "Proper". "Equestrian" is sadly basically useless because there is no horses.
3) I didn't include "BotFan"because there is not much to it right now.
4)I didn't include "Sailor" and "Equestrian" because "Sailor" is useless since we can't do much with the ocean.
This project is amazing and I use it to expand on my sims personalities. Along with it,I use 3 more mods.
1) The 3t2 Traits- Not only do I use it to expand on the perosnality of sims,I use it to helps me pick their clothes and decorate their rooms. For example,I'd give someone with an "Animal Lover" trait pictures of animals in their room,probably some sheets with animals and things like that. I might give them some clothes with paws. I might give a sim with "Social Butterfly" trait some preppy clothes and a sim with "Athletic" trait a shirt and sweatpants. This amazing project really helps in multiple ways with keeping things interesting and fresh.
2) "Color Traits" by Epi.(https://www.tumblr.com/episims/693405410225520640/a-little-something-ive-been-planning-to-do-for-a)
I use it to give my sims a favourite and a disliked colour. It keeps things more fun and gives me a variety instead of me constantly picking one colour,it also really helps with dressing my sims and putting wallpaper and decor in their bedroom.
And there's mods that use the favourite color of the sims,made by Epi.

It does a lot of expanding on the existing personality system. Shy sims will mumble when talking to other sims,mean sims will sneer at sims they are talking to,ect. Read up,it's great and works perfectly with The Traits Project!

Flowing Fabrics
This set followed the simplified processes of turning wool all the way into garments for sims to purchase. They will have to collect, clean and weave wool into thread and fabric. If they'd like to take their craft a step further they can gather natural sources of dyes and extract them to then dye their fabrics. With access to fabric bolts they may make garments and if they also have access to materials such as tanned leather products and fur they can make a wider variety of garments.
This is one of the more intertwined and advanced Sun&Moon sets, requiring quite a bit of other sets to function. Please read the manual carefully to understand what is needed for all parts of production and smooth functioning.
Key Features:
Wool Cleaning Vat - Clean wool to be spun. Produces Clean Wool.
Wool Winder - Turn clean wool into thread. Produces Thread Spools.
Standing Loom - Turn thread in solid sheets. Produces Fabric Bolts
Dye Extractor Pot - Extract natural dyes from various plants. Produces Bottled Dyes.
Fabric Dyeing Vat - Dye plain fabric. Produces Dyed Fabric Bolts
Sewing Workspace - Turn thread, fabric bolts, tanned leather, leather strips and cured fur into clothing. Produces Functional Blankets and Wardrobe Grants.
Functional Blankets - Main texture source for Sun&Moon fabrics moving forward. Functions as a radiator, allowing sims to warm up when their temperature is low enough.
Wardrobe Grants - The end product of the process, these serve to be used by sims so they can add a garment to their wardrobes, simulating a purchase of an outfit or a self made finished project.
Skilling Objects - Dress Forms; sims can gain charisma or mechanical skills.
All Fabric Bolts come in 7 fabric textures and 16 colors.
Display Shelves - Three varieties; Tall, Short, and Short With Shelf.
Tools - A pair of shears helps with dealing with wool, thread and fabric and a botanicals book helps the dye making process.

yuu manages to get all of their gaming systems from their world working in twisted wonderland. she connected them all with the help of ortho and now has access to all her games again. he uses this opportunity to introduce his friends to some games and gets them hooked on some.
yuu: really likes the honkai games and sometimes dabbles in genshin when they're interested in what's going on. long time main game pokemon fan (favorites are the sun and moon games). has both ensekai and jpsekai. occasionally plays sky but gets frustrated with the flying mechanic. loved the digital devil saga games when they came out and recently started playing p3r. still waiting to get unbanned from roblox.
ace: fell in love with the persona games, especially the ones under the smt persona ip. the persona 2 duology are her favorites. she has a roblox account but barely uses it. she plays wuthering waves a lot. modded minecraft truther right here. really good at solitaire, unsurprisingly. absolutely adores love nikki and the other games in the franchise.
deuce: he'd probably like games like smash bros and mario kart. also peaceful farming games too, he just seems like the type to like them. yuu introduced him to choose your own adventure games and he's been hooked ever since. they're his favorite type of genre and his favorite has to be telltale games' the walking dead.
riddle: big reverse:1999 fan, is in love with the story and character designs. ace made her play shin megami tensei iii: nocturne and she'll replay it sometimes. also adores love nikki but also adores the style savvy franchise games too. the moment she found ace attorney, it was like finding an oasis in the desert. unexpectedly liked bayonetta and has played all three games.
jack: he doesn't play video games that much, even before yuu introduced him to the ones of their world. he's just not interested in them but he occasionally plays minecraft with ace or sky with yuu.
epel: he won't admit it, but he loves lollipop chainsaw. he'll finish the game and then immediately start replaying it. he also likes farming simulator but lollipop chainsaw takes the cake. he plays the sonic games too but only because of the fandubs. if he gets to a cutscene, he'll sometimes quote the fandubs over the actual dub.
ortho: he's currently gatekeeping every single gacha game from idia while he plays them himself. he doesn't exactly have a favorite game but he definitely likes turn-based strategy games more than other types of games. he plays pokemon masters ex the most often and project sekai is right after it. he modded everyone 3ds'.
sebek: he mostly plays retro games and likes ocarina of time the most. he also likes old strategy games like the first fire emblem game and the first shin megami tensei game. he doesn't play often because of his duties as a personal knight of malleus, but sometimes he'll play pokemon red/blue with yuu. he was dared to play a dating sim one time and vowed to never again play one again.

Currently, I play at La Fiesta Tech, and I absolutely adore Stella Terrano. And after her little makeover I'm ready to admire her endlessly! So, here are five of my headcanons about this cutie patootie.

Stella is shy about taking the initiative in a relationship (but only if it doesn't involve making out).

By and large, Stella has rather old-fashioned, bookish ideas about relationships, much like her compatriot PT9 Smith.

Until 1999 comes out and reveals the lore my personal headcanon/fanon idea is that the Hex used to be a pretty tightnit and functional squad of agents but the encroaching helminth technocyte infection is slowly driving them “mad” (ie just throwing their brain chemistries off and worsening pre-existing issues and being forced to suddenly go cold turkey on your adderal because your cool machine body is now immune to conventional drugs) so it’s manifesting as them all having unusually short fuses with each other and bickering and increasingly resorting to coping mechanisms for their worsening neuroses (Arthur is isolating himself, Amir is dopamine seeking, Aoi is incongruently faking it till she makes it, Leticia is increasingly prickly, Quincy’s developing something of a defensive superiority complex, and Eleanor is invading peoples’ minds and privacies and keeping obsessive tabs on her peers). Basically everyone’s on the verge of a bad nervous breakdown (which could be used as a metaphor for “losing their humanity” or something. Like really examine how there’s this ableist connection between having psychological disorders/disabilities and personhood (lack of it)? But doing so via Dark Sector Dating Sim where everyone’s a tragic werewolf but instead of turning into a wolf they’re turning into superpowered space ninja mechsuits. )
Which is to say that absolutely very little of this is strongly supported by the demo but I’ve been having a lot of fun thinking about it because I think one of the most entertaining ways to do a character study is to see how they crack under pressure/distress/trauma and cope with it. And the Hex are in that perfect intersection of being characters that are deliberately written to be appealing in some way (for the folks who wish to go the dating sim route) but also have some interpersonal conflict. Maybe part of the plot of 1999 involves the drifter reconnecting them or helping em manage their emotional issues (see inside an ugly broken thing and take its pain away or whatever). Drifter’s had some personal experience with cognitive behavior therapy or emotional regulation skills via learning to master and escape the spirals of Duviri, they might be able to wrestle the Hex into a group therapy session. More likely involving void nonsense. I could just be projecting my own personal issues onto these characters but it’s fun.
All of this is just baseless musings, and I very well could be pulling a lot of nonsense out of thin air- I’ve definitely confused warframe canon with my own assumptions or imaginings to fill in the gaps in the story myself. But anyways.

I'm not completely clueless though: I checked some older posts and from what I saw, I assumed he's a hacker and worked for a criminal gang? But what about now? Just a freelancer? Noah - Artist! He has his own gallery now too and he scouts/stocks other peoples work as well as his.
Aspen - Yoga Teacher - kinda casual tho since Noah makes enough for both of em n' then some.
Sidney - Retired A&E Doctor! Still works the odd shift to help out tho cos she can't help herself.
Alton - Retired Charity Worker (FOR THE TREEEES! 🌲)

Mack/Kobe - Mechanics (still own their lil garage in the Harbor)
Darien - Accountant (a very GOOD accountant & only slightly dodgy these days, plenty of legal ways around the law u kno 😉)
Wyatt - Unemployed! Man's got enough money to last several lifetimes but messes with a lot of stocks, he'll tell people he's an Investor)
Brynn - Stay at Home Mom! She's quite social tho, I can see her getting a job in a cafe or smth when the kids go to school just for fun)
Tilda - Seamstress! She works with a slightly eccentric woman in her shop in the Bay
Tristen - Pizza Boy/Lifeguard! He works with Kara in a cute lil takeaway in town at night, but by day he picks up shifts as a lifeguard on the beach, especially in spring/summer 🌊 He has his own place now!! 🏠👀
Mia - Paramedic! She works a LOT
Suzie - Dog Sitter/Groomer - she has her own grooming station in the garage/outhouse so basically works from home!
Miya - Mixologist!
Rhys - Photographer - he's mostly done weddings/events in the past but he's working toward doing more projects of his own since he has a studio now! 📸

OOOOO YES !!! Elle Fontaine was my first oc ever! Tho she used to go by Lily Smith and was 10 year old me's ninjago oc in 2011 😭🫶💖
She has come a LONG way since 2011 (happy 14th bday to her btw thats CRAZY) and was actually the reason I started getting more into drawing—little me wanted to do her proud!! I still have most of the stuff I made back then, both traditional progress and the old classic pics made with MSPaint, deviantart anime bases, and a dream LMAO
While I dip in and out of bouts with keeping up with Ninjago I still use her pretty actively! I've pulled her along through most fandoms I've been in in some form! She's kinda my ol' reliable if I need a pc and don't have any strong ideas and I'm glad for that! It's fun to consider how she'd fare in different settings and such!
it's a crime that I haven't drawn her recently, but I DO have some pics of her sim and the version of her I used when playing FO4 recently LMAO

One thing that's stayed pretty consistent with her character for years however is that she's always been very independent, a little stoic, and a mechanic/handyman type whose main modality are rollerskates and a motorbike! (This is a common trait she shares with two other of my top ocs LMFAO can u tell im a STEM major at heart 😭) Even as a Ninjago oc, despite being an elemental (Wind since 2011 shoutout to Morro bc little me felt so scammed seeing bro show up LMFAO) she always remained a more fringe elemental who owned her own garage and made due through odd jobs :]
I still love her very dearly and she will likely continue popping up all over my projects and gameplay if I can so help it <3

Lil (long) simblr gratitude day post
I wanted to make a post shouting out some of my favorite creators, storytellers, and just general simmers from over the last year, mainly focused on ts4 since that's where my attention has been the most. Long post ahead so it's going under a cut. If you're not tagged please know I did wake up late today so it's not as complete of a list as I wanted it to be!!
@adelarsims - You are an essential in my mods folder!! I love how much realism and/or character your cc adds to sims, from things like the piercing holes to the wonky glasses to the mechanic overlay... Just so many little things that I can't imagine not having in my game or on certain characters now. Speaking of characters, your sims both original and premade are always so gorgeous, and I really enjoy your interpretations of wg and jeb. & Thank you for being WCIF friendly, I know it takes time to get that info but it's so appreciated, u've help me find some very beloved pieces of CC. Also the level of dedication u have to organizing your mods folder is incredible and you've inspired me a lot to get my folder's act together finally!! Which is SUCH a QoL improvement
@bearphase - I adore the bright legacy and I admire all the little details and effort you put into your posts, like fixing clipping issues, making icons and templates for custom careers or story events, ur creativity really shines through. While I've never been a sims 4 hater, like a lot of people I've still struggled with the gameplay aspect of this iteration, so it's been really inspiring to watch how you go about your game and immerse yourself in it, see all the care you put into your sims. I have to thank you for the videos you've made on it, like the one on how to make sims you connect to, season 1 of Lovesick where you went basically vanilla with the specific intent to show people how much you can do with imagination and what that looks like in gameplay! It's been literally game-changing for me lol and helped me to have more fun with my saves, even if they're not one of the rare few that starts out off the rails, I get more enjoyment playing it out until things do start happening outside of my control. & YOUR CC RECS!! I've downloaded so many of the mods you've recommended and I love how much they fill out the game. On the topic of Lovesick, I have not been able 2 get enough!! I'm so hooked lmao. Watching this series has really taken me back to the days when I was a teen reading like those particularly juicy drama-filled sims 3 stories you can't help but to keep clicking "next page" on, except Lovesick is so solid writing-wise. SO excited to see where Lizbeth is going in her life!!
@simandy - Your hairs have been an essential in my CAS folder for so long, and I've been so impressed with the evolution of your creations over the years. I've always liked your work but GODDAMN the quality always blows me away these days!! & I really, really adore and appreciate the variety! @squea - ANOTHER SORT OF LONG ONE BUT ... Your sims just POP!!! SO much character, and your edits and art r phenomenal. Corn is one of my favorite little digital guys I've had the pleasure of experiencing on line in all my years in the sims community reading stories and gameplay. If Cornelius has a million fans I am one of them. If Cornelius has ten fans I am one of them. If Cornelius has no fans I am no longer on the earth. If world against Cornelius, I am against the world. So on and so forth TBH you've also helped me have a lot more fun with the sims 4 talking about how you enjoy your game, and have a healthier mindset about my place in the community and connect back with the reason I made this blog in the first place, which was just to have fun and archive something I love, regardless of whether it got any attention or not! I started going MIA a bit post 2019 after really getting involved in the community, for Life Happens reasons, and naturally the lack of consistent posting for a while meant less eyes on whatever I came back to share. For a while I let that discourage me esp when a lot of effort was put into something, but after you posted about just genuinely enjoying ur game and loving what you made regardless of notes it made me realize what I was doing and helped me get back to that state of mind. Now whatever I make gets to matter simply because it matters to me, even if I post it at like 3am bc I'm so excited and no one ever sees it bc of that DHKDHKHSD. & I feel like I have u to thank for that!! @warwickroyals - Ok so first off your clothing is a STAPLE in my folder for my more wealthy and/or fashion-oriented sims! And as for the Warwick Legacy? One of my absolute favorite simblr stories I've read. I still remember when I started it, it was pretty late at night so I was just planning on reading a handful of posts and then picking it back up the next day. That did not happen I could not stop. Straight up stayed up the entire night bingeing all the way to the latest post (which was the Big Phillip Thing. I had to get up from my computer to pace I was having a Moment LOL) I've got some catching up to do but so far I think that's been my favorite arc. Aside from that your editing is beautiful, and I've always been a character enjoyer so I'm in love with how much thought you've put into all of yours, and the fact we get to learn so much about them. I think you do a really good job of balancing the cast and I really dig your storytelling style in general.

My Time at Evershine

I guess they're reworking Project ME into a more PC/Console friendly version. (This does kind of make it feel like everyone who was given access to Project ME were just unpaid beta testers but...I won't dwell on that too much)
I played Project ME on and off (at least until it stopped working on my device) but I just couldn't fully get into it what with it being a mobile game and all (and unavailable to emulate on Nox). So I am looking forward this as the third My Time game.
I do still have...concerns...though. I'll just put them under a cut if you're interested but be warned: Long winded and probably poorly articulated rambling ahead. TL;DR: Not loving the art style and I'm a bit pessimistic about certain game mechanics.
The first thing is the direction of the art style. It's almost too far from the style of Portia and Sandrock. I know a lot of people complained about that with the previous games. If I had a dollar for every time I saw someone complain about the MC looking like a child or harping on the character proportions...I'd be pretty rich by now. That being said, the the cartoony style was part of the charm and uniqueness of the other games. My Time at Portia is distinct, you really can't mistake it for any other game (like how when you see Code Lyoko, you know it's Code Lyoko and not possibly another show). Even the slightly less cartoonish style of Sandrock still retains that charm. Project ME kept up the Sandrock style so I was hoping if they brought it to PC it wouldn't change much but clearly that isn't the case. With the more realistic style it's lost it's uniqueness. Several people have already pointed out that this new direction makes it look too much like other games (I see a lot of comparisons to Palia and Dreamlight Valley in the YouTube comments) and I can't help but see MiHoYo's signature anime-esque style myself. I'm not saying it looks bad. It looks amazing! It just doesn't look like My Time.
Another thing for me is that it's more of a city builder than a building/farming life sim. Those elements are still there obviously but...trying to build up the settlement takes a lot of time and planning (again, I played Project ME so I already have a feel for this feature) and you're left with little time for the core elements of the game. Hell, I struggled to keep up with commissions while working on the settlement and keeping up relationships and collecting materials AND exploring. I constantly felt like I wasn't making any actual progress. It became stressful and if there is one thing these type of games shouldn't be, it's stressful. Hopefully they'll balance it out better here than in ME.
Lastly, and I know this one is something a lot of people will disagree with me on, but I already have a fear of them focusing too much on multiplayer/co-op. I know there is a (very) vocal group of people who constantly demand multiplayer to be shoved into every. single. game. And when developers kowtow to that demand, singleplayer always suffers. Always. I'm not saying that it shouldn't be implemented for those who want it or if the developers themselves want it but...some of us just want to be left alone to enjoy the story. Especially in a game/genre that is, at it's core, supposed to be a singleplayer experience. Sometimes though, developers focus so much on pleasing multiplayer gamers that they completely neglect the singleplayer campaign. Hell, that almost seemed happen with Sandrock (thankfully, it didn't but it got precarious for a hot minute during early access). This is somewhat two-pronged, too. Usually, you can ignore multiplayer stuff in a game if it also has singleplayer but it's become more common to force the multiplayer/co-op feature onto players recently. Such as locking features of the game or putting up a roadblock in story progression unless you play with other people. I dropped Magic Awakened after only playing for a few weeks because of this. When you can't enjoy a singleplayer storymode without having to do co-op tasks or something it ceases to be singleplayer (and fun...for people like me). I know Pathea wanted to expand on the multiplayer feature for their next game, I just hope they don't expand so much that it destroys the main, singleplayer experience.
To reiterate, these are personal concerns. I know this comes across as whiny and I'm not trying to be but I guess I've just become pessimistic. That being said, I am genuinely looking forward to this game. I've supported Pathea for a long time and I don't plan on dropping that support unless they do something horribly unforgivable (which I honestly don't foresee).

May Flowers Game - June 2024 Progress Report
Another month has passed, so here’s another update on my gamedev journey. The goal is to create my first video game using the Godot game engine.
(Prior Updates: May, Initial)
Research
The main goal for June was research. Play other character/exploration-focused games with no farming or combat elements and see what they do to keep things fun. Here’s what I played (or watched others play)
A Short Hike: A game about a penguin climbing a mountain. Finding new people, new areas, and moving/gliding were very enjoyable. The game’s 3D environment with pixelated graphics was also a new experience for me. A very nice cozy game.
Rakuen: I love this game. You play as a kid stuck in a hospital, trying to help other sick patients, while also exploring a fantasy world described in a book. Lots of exploration, puzzles, and focus on characters. Catchy music too. Kind of exactly what I was looking for. I think Undertale fans would enjoy this one.
The Stanley Parable: A choose-your-own-adventure game. No NPCs, just movement and a very entertaining and well-crafted narrator.
Potion Permit: You play as a chemist who just moved into a town, and must make a living brewing potions while getting to know the town, its people, and the wilderness. The first life-sim game I’ve actually beaten. The lack of time limits was greatly appreciated.
Shenmue (Watched not Played): An important piece of gaming history. I watched a playthrough of this one, just so I could see this game at its best, and not miss any important events.
Freddi Fish 2 (Watched not Played): A point-and-click adventure for children??!… What’s this doing here?!?! Well, this one wasn’t on my original list, but I realized the point-and-click game genre had many similarities with the walk/talk/trade-items gameplay I originally envisioned. Plus this one had no game-overs and no frustrating trial-and-error like many do. Studying how a different genre handled that kind of gameplay, while making it very accessible and entertaining, was a good learning experience.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits (WIP): I started this one, more for fun than research, but haven’t finished it yet. Beautiful game. As others have noted, it’s like playing a Pixar movie.
OneShot (Not Started Yet): Ran out of time. 😒 Next month. Really looking forward to this one.
All in all, I took 10 pages of notes. Things I noticed, liked, disliked, wanted to think about.
Prototype
On June 20, I began work on an actual prototype (“Prototype 1”). Code from my earlier Godot projects was collected, combined, and improved. The goal is to implement every important mechanic in the game. Everything the player should be able to DO in the game, the prototype should have at least ONE place where the player can do it. In a very condensed environment that's easy to test. Physics and graphics can be fine-tuned later. This prototype is all about functionality. For example:

Walk in 8 directions.
Talk to an NPC.
Choose an answer when the NPC asks a question which triggers different outcomes.
Walk to the edge of a room and appear in an adjacent room.
And overall, things have gone very well! I have a page-long checklist of everything I want to implement in this prototype, and it’s about half-done. :D
Except menus.
And except puzzles.
Puzzle mechanics aren’t added yet. I realized the mechanics I was planning did not have much synergy and were very simple. I also want to review the notes I took during research and study puzzles in general. So, back to the drawing board, for now. Puzzles are the next major step. And I think I have a pretty good idea how I want to change them.
Audio
I made a text-blip sound effect (hear it in the video above) and a placeholder “song” of 6 notes to use for testing music. Since this game’s art style is based on the Game Boy, I did some research on the Game Boy’s sound capabilities.
It has four “instruments” that can play sounds simultaneously, aka “channels”:
Channel 1 and 2: Pulse Channel. Each can emit a quadrangular wave
Channel 3: “Wave” channel with user-definable waveform
Channel 4: A noise wave (think static)
Channel 3 is the most fascinating imo. You can define your own timbre of the sound to be played. If you ever played a Game Boy game that had a unique-sounding song that, chances are it was a custom waveform via this channel. (Also, if you ever played Mother 3, the movie theater part with the retro-sounding music did in fact use the original Game Boy audio capabilities in the Game Boy Advance, and also includes these sounds.)
There is software that can reproduce the capabilities described above in order to create Game Boy-sounding music on a PC. I’d like to experiment with that in the coming weeks. The Game Boy was capable of some really good music. Limiting my scope to its capabilities for the same of my own sanity, plus the flexibility of that wave channel to create custom sounds, seems like it can produce some really nice results, which is very appealing to me.
Graphics
I made a font! It only includes English letters, for now, but it works! I used it in the “Save Pointy” art earlier this week and the prototype video above, and intend to use it for everything going forward.

I want to find some work in the game industry as game designer, it's something I like and I study a lot about it, but have almost no professional experience safe some help with projects, so I am building some case studies to see if it somehow helps when I send CV to game studios. So most of my art now are just mockups for me to explain the design process behind those studios, peak pixel art and game design am I right?? For this image in specific is part of the layout I am making for a level of one of my personal projects, a turn based stealth game with immersive sim elements, in this mockup I will explain the design intent of the level design, the world design and how the game design mechanics of the game will work. We can see 4 player characters and a guard looking the other way with his vision cone, I will work more on it, it's too sketch even for a sketch version.

I dreamed about project zomboid. That I was playing some kind of challenge, like a mission, and when I finished it, the "next level" was to take care of 2 people (like 2 npc).
We were in some kind of semi safe place, like trying to set a refugee in a building, where other npc were trying to set a perimeter, but I have to make sure these the npc were safe, and the bloody people just be "I'll look for something to do and help" and go out of my screen.
I don't know what happened to the first one, I tried to save the second one, but I was confused because other npc and zombies looked the same and I was "there you are!.... No.... That someone else.... Oh! You are running towards me, nice!.... Nop, that's a zombie...." Also, running zombies....
And I remember that at some point I was trying to give up and was like "ok, I think they bite me, so just eat me already to start over because this is just frustrating " but like.... It hurts??? I knew I was controlling my little guy but every time the bite it hurts me.
I remember having a katana.
I remember that at the start I tried to create 3 characters to be controlled by me (something like a sims family), so I have 1 driver/mechanic, a carpenter with spears and katana and a farming one. But the game was like "do this challenge" "you can't do that yet"
It would be stressful to control 3 persons, but it would be interesting to try. Like I can fully control it when I'm focusing on it, but it can Walt and decide stuff on its own, like defend itself (poorly) or read something or cook.

Sorry this is me just being nosy, what made you so nervous about getting sued for copyright infringement? As far as I know as long as you make your own assets and such it falls under the category of parody, and as long as you don't sell it(ignoring the music part, which you could get around by using covers). Also I actually really like the monster dating sim idea, do you have any spisific OC's in mind that you would want to use?
To answer you first question
This was something I should have delved deeper on. I am NOT giving up on MxK (because this is something I really wanna do :( ) It's just I really, really, really need to do a lot of CYA (cover your ass) if I want this game to not be killed off before it even gets started. It may take a while to get permission, since I am using Damon & Jamie's original characters-- they may not mind, but big labels might. IDK how strict they could be. I'd rather be safe than finish the game, release it & get slapped with fees/lawsuits, even if they're parodied or not overtly referenced.
I plan on using just instrumentals of Gorillaz's songs in the game, but again, I don't know how strict Parlophone UK/Warner is about fan projects using their IP. I don't think a game like this has been made before, so I don't know what legal loopholes I have to go through to even make references to other musicians, animes & other IPs in MxK. I don't know how far 'fair use' or 'parody law' will go for something like this.
Since Damon & Jamie are celebrities with their own personal lives, I don't know how active they are on social media, but I pray I can reach someone who could pass this word onto them. I'm not giving up. I won't let this take the wind out of my sails. At least I'm asking now rather than when the game is near completion
As for your second question:
I have my own OCs & with my husband's help, we've come up with the idea for 16 characters, 8 guys & 8 girls. A few examples will be: A robo-cat boy, a clown boy, a fairy boy, an ogre girl, a vampire girl, & a mummy girl.
They won't all just be generic monsters. I've had a fascination with monsters & mythology from all over the world & want to incorporate monsters from all over the world (ex: a vampire from the Philippines is called a Manananggal).
This could be an opportunity to finally show off my OCs & ideas, since I've been so anxious & scared to show them off outside of DeviantArt or my husband & friends.
Plus, DnD & Baldur's Gate 3 have been mega inspirations for game mechanics
